Embers and Ashes is the venture of husband and wife duo Italo and Leila Marino. The couple
prides themselves on designing custom menus, with a focus on outdoor cooking, to create a
unique experience for each client. With their culinary background, and passion for travel,
you will find a wide variety of cuisines and flavors to choose from.
Italo (Tito) Marino
Coming from a long line of chefs Marino found his passion for cooking at an early age. He started his career at Restaurant Bricco in West Hartford, Connecticut, under the tutelage of Billy Grant and his Uncle Fran Marino.
After graduating from the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY Marino continued his training in NYC working for Daniel Boulud at restaurant Daniel and Michael White at Ai Fiori.
Originally from Heidelberg, Germany, Leila moved to Charleston, SC at the age of 10. Having been influenced by her mother’s and grandfather's love for gastronomy she discovered a passion for food at a young age and competed in culinary competitions throughout high school. At 16, she began her culinary career as a cook at Charleston's, Peninsula Grill and
spent time working at Schlosshotel Lerbach, in Germany.
Upon moving to New York and graduating from the Culinary Institute of America, she went on to work for Michael White at Alto and Marea in NYC.
The Marinos met at The Culinary Institute of America and lived together in NYC, working in multiple Michelin
Starred Restaurants, before relocating to Charleston, SC. They worked as Co-Executive Chefs
for a number of great restaurateurs before starting their own venture, Embers and Ashes.
They have combined their passion for outdoor cooking and travel to create this unique and
personalized catering and private chef concept.
